Farm Hand

Salary: AU$26 - AU$30.00 per hour + Super + work ute + house

Condobolin NSW

Our client

Our client is a successful family run operation located just outside of Condobolin, NSW. They boast outstanding staff retention, coupled with offering great working conditions, to include new equipment and machinery.

Their mixed-cropping property spans 1400ha of which 700ha is irrigated, 220ha being designated to cotton – 50/50 split between dry land and irrigation (overheads and pivots). They also own other properties in the area, within the livestock space, however this role will be solely focused on cropping.

The farm has a bus stop at its gate and is only 25km to town where there are excellent amenities and a great community.

The Role

Working closely with the Farm Manager, you will be assisting with maintenance, spraying, general operating (new machinery) and the running of the irrigation operation.

You will play a key role across all farming activities and infrastructure. This role will suit a highly motivated individual with a drive for career progression and professional development in the agriculture space –

In this role, your duties will include but not be limited to –

  • Implement ‘Best Practice’ agricultural systems and standards to support crop production and livestock operations
  • Co-ordinate operations including hands on work on a range of tractors and tractor-drawn machinery during preparation, planting, in crop application & harvest
  • Assist in general farm duties and machinery maintenance as required
  • Develop key benchmarking targets with a passion to strive to improve the efficiency of the cropping operation
  • Implement all WH&S procedures and protocols while maintaining high farm hygiene standards

Skills & Experience

Our ideal candidate will have experience in broadacre or cotton coupled with a solid understanding of farming operations. Practical and hands on, you’ll be multiskilled, adaptable and capable of tackling most jobs.

  • Skilled in the operation of self-propelled machinery
  • Experience in operation of broadacre farming plant, air seeder, plough etc
  • ChemCert chemical handling certificate
  • Sound mechanical knowledge
  • Motivated with good organizational skills, communication skills, time management, working in a team and independently
  • Basic computer skills
  • Current drivers licence
  • Understanding of water resource management and drainage systems
