The Role       
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Account Manager/Agronomist to join our client’s operations.  You will play a crucial role in utilising your agronomic knowledge to provide sales support and bridge the gap between their sales team, technical teams, and clients to ensure optimal agricultural outcomes using their irrigation technology.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will provide professional agronomic support to assist their sales team in achieving their annual goals and help their clients and technical teams achieve superior agriculture outcomes. The incumbent in this role will be key in emphasizing the agronomic advantages of our client’s irrigation system to growers and other clients, whilst ensuring clear communication and explanation of the program to clients.

Your duties will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Accompany or independently visit farms to highlight the agronomic advantages of our client’s irrigation system and Decision Support System
  • Collaborate with the Head Quarter’s agronomy team to design the seasonal program for Fertigation, Irrigation, and Chemical Treatment (FIT) for all Australian projects
  • Regularly visit farms to oversee the performance of the system, assess plant health, and provide guidance to clients and their teams
  • Conduct daily evaluations of plant health using the Decision Support System. Collect relevant pre-season data for FIT, including fertilizer quantities, weather predictions, and other related data
  • Generate weekly updates on each project, including applied irrigation and fertigation volumes, as well as details on plant health
  • Establish and nurture relationships with industry stakeholders, including academic researchers, distributors, corporate agriculturalists, and affiliated associations to gain insights into emerging trends and opportunities

This role is suitable for someone based in either Toowoomba, QLD or Narrabri, Moree, Dubbo, Narromine (or similar areas) in Regional NSW.

You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a team player with initiative and a ‘can-do’ attitude.

To be considered for the role, it is important that you can address the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy
  • Minimum 5 years of agronomy consultancy experience, preferably with a focus on Cotton and Grains
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in sales or sales support
  • Strong aptitude for technology and ability to navigate applications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Availability outside of standard business hours may be required to support global operations
  • Business travel required Australia wide.

Seed Technical Officer

Operating in Australia for over 25 years, our esteemed client stands as the global leader in producing the natural insecticide active ingredient, Pyrethrin, derived from Australian grown pyrethrum daisies. Part of a major Japanese Chemical Group, our client is renowned for their success, innovation, positive work culture and an environmentally conscious approach to both agribusiness and manufacturing.

Spanning operations in Tasmania and the rural regions of Western Victoria, our client has pioneered the cultivation of the pyrethrum daisy since its establishment in 1996. Managing thousands of hectares dedicated to producing top-quality products, the organisation is currently on the lookout for a Seed Technical Officer to join their dynamic team in Ulverstone, TAS.
 
Your Role
As the Seed Technical Officer, you’ll play a vital role under the direct supervision of the Seed Research Officer, supporting both the Seed and R&D teams across field, glasshouse, and laboratory trials. From the inception of planting to the culmination of harvest, you’ll be deeply involved in every technical aspect, ensuring the smooth execution of research trials. Your responsibilities will extend to meticulous data management, adhering to best management practices, and maintaining accurate records throughout the process.

What sets our client apart in the realm of R&D companies is their unique agility – successful research can swiftly translate into implementation, often within the same year. Whilst the bulk of their research focuses on seed-related endeavours, this role offers exposure to various other areas of the business.

Employing a practical and hands-on approach, you will adeptly communicate issues to the manager, fostering a clear and effective dialogue.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Crop monitoring and plant counts
  • Apply trial treatments, including agricultural chemicals
  • Maintain trial sites including hand weeding and spot spraying
  • Collect data from field and glasshouse trials as directed
  • Assist with trial establishment

Due to the depth of knowledge and experience in the existing team, both graduate and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply for this role.

Please note this is a full-time, permanent position. Not suitable for Working Holiday Visa workers – Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
