Orchard Manager

Salary: AU$105000 - AU$130000 per annum + Super + work car + house

Your Role

As the Orchard Manager, you will play a key role in effectively and efficiently managing one of our clients key properties; a 300ha premium apple orchard located in the stunning region of Stanthorpe, QLD

You will play an integral role in planning and implementing strategy, to leading and mentoring an established team. This unique opportunity will see you utilizing your skills and knowledge to maximize the production of high-quality fruit whilst imbedding a culture of safety.

Innovative and practical, you will have the freedom to make your mark on this already established property. In addition to overseeing the orchard operations, you will be required to keep accurate records and manage the performance of all orchard staff.

In your next role, your responsibilities will include but not limited to;

  • Coordinate and execute all aspects of orchard operations, including irrigation, fert programs, chemical application, and harvest scheduling
  • Oversee training and development of casual/permanent employees, coordinating the maintenance of all plant and equipment, and adopting of sustainable agriculture practices
  • Create a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and practicing Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Work in collaboration with General Manager and Packing Manager in monitoring and evaluating the efficiency of all orchard operations and packaging facilities

About You

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in Farm / Orchard Management, preferably within apples. As an effective leader you will also have;

  • Minimum 4 years' + experience in a similar, management position
  • Tertiary qualification(s) in horticulture or similar are highly regarded, however not essential
  • Financial, budgeting and reporting experience
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Self-starter attitude with a passion to continuously grow and develop, professionally
