Poultry Hand

The Role

Our client is currently looking for Poultry Hands for their commercial operations based in Pittsworth. Your duties will vary depending according to the area you will be working in and requires people who are flexible and willing to contribute across multiple areas.

Your duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Poultry labouring - involves frequent bending, lifting and standing for long periods
  • Egg collecting
  • Poultry relocation (catching and handling chickens, moving chickens in cages on trolleys)
  • Checking chickens to ensure their optimal health
  • Making sure egg belts are operating efficiently
  • Regular water, feed, lighting and environmental checks to ensure bird health and safety
  • Completing relevant paperwork
  • Cleaning of site - using a high pressure hose, shoveling and other manual labour
  • Following hygiene and safe work procedures

Skills & Experience

The role requires people who are flexible and able to perform a range of duties. You must have a good level of physical fitness as you will be required to stand for long periods of time and lift various objects. A good communicator and a team player, to be successful for this role, it's important that you can prove you have the following attributes:

  • Able to drive and have your own reliable transport
  • Physically fit and comfortable in carrying out labour intensive duties
  • Comfortable working in direct contact with poultry in a smelly environment
  • Able to follow directions and work unsupervised whilst showing high levels of initiative
  • A team player and happy working with a multicultural team
  • Able to work flexible shifts on an on-call basis
