Based thirty minutes south of Launceston, Tasmania, the Seed Cleaning Coordinator is responsible for processing seed crops to meet the company’s forecast requirements for yield, quality and budget. The role manages the warehouse and facility, while giving high priority to the smooth logistics of operations, seed cleaning and inbound/outbound seed.
This is a central role requiring you to perform mid-level supervision and training in a team environment, taking charge of the processing, storage, cleaning and distribution of a variety of seeds from their valued growers.
Providing leadership, training and direction to your team, the role is also responsible for the preventative maintenance and care of various onsite machines.
Dedicated to a culture of safety while adhering to company policies and values, your day to day duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Support the production of seed crops to meet organisational forecast requirements for yield, quality and budget
- Plan and coordinate delivery of seed cleaning services
- Ensure efficient logistics of operations, seed cleaning and inbound and outbound seed
- Provide leadership and direction for the regional work unit, and train staff on how to perform duties and use equipment
- Provide sound planning at all levels to facilitate proper coordination with permanent and casual employees
- Service preventative maintenance scheduling to minimise coincidence with peak activity times such as planting, harvest and seed cleaning
Occasional in-field activities working outdoors with the cropping team
Your Skills & Experience
To be successful in this position, you must have exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
Client focused, the ideal candidate has natural leadership qualities and a strong commitment to the high value placed on positive and authentic relationships by the company. You will be an independent, organised and autonomous leader with a ‘can do’ mentality and not afraid to get your hands dirty.
Working within a collaborative team environment, your interpersonal communication and negotiation skills will be crucial to your success, as will your demonstrated ability to maintain thorough records.
An understanding of machinery operations, a general knowledge of plant maintenance/repairs, seed processing and cleaning, warehousing and freight and logistics process will be highly regarded.
